THE TYPE OF LANGUAGE AND TEXT SHAKESPEARE USED
Shakespeare's plays can sometimes be hard to understand for he uses some special languages and texts. This is extremely difficult when you have to analyse a play by Shakespeare (we would know) so this page is made to make understanding his language and text not be as hard as much as before.
The 1500s was a significant time for the developing English language. William Shakespeare, a famous poet, playwright and actor, created many works, which resulted in the creation of new vocabulary for our language. Shakespeare had approximately 20 000 words in his own jargon. However, only a few of these words became well known throughout time. Some of these include thou, art, hence, yonder, ‘tis, ‘twas, thee and many more. Below is a list of other words he crafted:
art = are
dost = do
doth = does
'ere = before
hast = have
'tis = it is
'twas = it was
wast = were
whence = from where
wherefore = why
Keep in mind that there were many other words he created as well.

Social standings affected the language spoken
In Shakespearean times, the actors ranked lower on the social standings would speak more casually than the higher ranked actors. This is because the richer you were, the more education you received. Therefore, the wealthier actors were able to have the opportunity of speaking in more Shakespearean language, because they knew how to comprehend it. Other actors just spoke colloquially, as that is what they could understand.

FORM OF WRITING
When writing his plays Shakespeare mainly used “blank verse”. This form of writing had no rhyming in it and used iambic pentameter. This meant that the poem had 5 iambuses per line which was an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable. The rhythm in blank from is made from the iambic pentameter. An example of this is in Shakespeare's play "Hamlet".
But, woe is me, you are sick of fate,
so far from cheer and from your former state
That I distrust you. Yet, though i distrust,
Discomfort you, my lord, it nothing must
