Middle Years
Shakespeare's first play was written in 1589, it was called The Two Gentlemen of Verona. He continued to write and publish plays until 1614. By 1597, 15 of Shakespeare's plays had been published, and this is when he bought 'New House'. This was the second biggest house in Stratford at that current time. In those years, and until the 1600s he wrote many comedies such as 'Merchant of Venice', 'Much Ado about Nothing' and 'Midsummer Nights Dream'. After that, he wrote many tragedy works including Hamlet, Othello and Macbeth.
